Letter from the Co-CEOs: Reflecting on CRIO’s Growth and Innovation in 2024

As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for an extraordinary year of growth, innovation and impact. The journey we’ve embarked on has been nothing short of remarkable, and we’re excited to share the highlights that have defined CRIO’s remarkable trajectory.

This year has been a testament to our commitment to transforming clinical research through cutting-edge technology and unwavering dedication to our clients and partners. Our growth metrics tell a compelling story of expansion and trust. We’ve welcomed over 110 new clients, added 600 new sites, and expanded our global footprint to 28+ countries. This isn’t just growth; it’s a validation of our mission to simplify and enhance clinical research operations.

Our product innovations have been at the heart of our success. We’ve introduced game-changing features that are reshaping the clinical research landscape:

  • AI-enabled Search: Empowering researchers with smarter, faster information retrieval
  • Improved Finance Reports: Providing deeper financial insights and transparency
  • Partners Directory: Connecting and streamlining collaboration within the research community
  • Central Lab Results Workflow: Ingesting lab data for PI review

We’re particularly proud of our Partners Program, launched on July 15th, and our Badge Program, which went live on October 28th. With two badges now available – the eSource Badge and the Medical Record API Badge – we’re driving innovation and recognizing excellence in clinical research technology.

In addition to the above releases, we are preparing for the broad release of two major rewrites of our system:

  • New eSource data collection: Enhanced user interface and code upgrade, which will enable a stream of enhancements such as cross-form logic and third party data ingestion;
  • New GAAP oriented accounting: Upgraded financial transactions database where every change in receivable is tracked at the transaction level, enabling stable month-end closings.

Like a house, software requires periodic renovations, or the foundation gets old and dated. CRIO continues to be focused on making investments to modernize our software, laying the groundwork for major improvements and quality delivery for years to come.

Our customer success metrics speak volumes about the trust and satisfaction we’ve built.  Our customer retention rate of 99.3% is a powerful testament to the value we deliver.

This year also marked significant growth in our team. We welcomed key talent like Sue Vestri as CFO, Josh Harris as Head of People Programs, and Rick Ward as our CCO, strengthening our commitment to excellence.

As we look ahead, we are energized by the possibilities. The clinical research landscape is evolving, and CRIO is at the forefront of this transformation. We’re not just adapting to change; we’re driving it. Our goal is to expand our platform to make it fully interoperable with sponsor systems, other site systems, and EHRs.

To our clients, partners, and team members: thank you. Your trust, collaboration, and passion fuel our mission to make clinical research more efficient, accessible and impactful.

Here’s to an incredible 2024 and an even more promising 2025!
