I started with CRIO in 2017 as a part-time eSource Designer while working night shifts as a bedside nurse. For three years, I balanced both worlds, caring for patients at night and designing clinical trial workflows during the day. This dual perspective gave me invaluable insight into the clinical side of research while I built study templates. A lot of study templates. More builds than I can count, honestly.

In 2020, I transitioned to CRIO full-time, and that is when things really took off. The Study Design team was very small at the time, working alongside part-time designers to support our growing client base. What started as a lean operation evolved into something much bigger. Over the years, I had the opportunity to build a team from the ground up, growing to seven full-time employees, four part-time staff, and global contractors who helped us manage overflow. Beyond the team itself, I developed the foundational processes, workflows, and standards that shaped how the department functions today.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been watching the evolution of clinical trial complexity. Early on, studies were relatively straightforward, maybe 15 visits and 30 procedures. Recently, our team wrapped up a build with over 90 visits and more than 170 forms. The complexity has grown exponentially, and seeing CRIO’s platform evolve to meet those demands has been incredible. We have built something that our clients genuinely rely on, and knowing that we take that workload off their plates so they can focus on patient care makes the work meaningful.

There is something deeply satisfying about delivering a completed build and knowing our clients are excited and relieved to have it ready. They are able to hit the ground running, and we have given them the foundation to do their best work. That is what keeps me going, building systems that work, leading teams that care, and delivering solutions that make a real difference.

In July 2024, I transitioned into a new role focused on the study design of Central eSource solutions for a major sponsor at the enterprise level. It is the next evolution of what we have been building, and I am proud to be at the forefront of how CRIO is shaping the future of clinical research technology.

Looking back on these past eight years, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. What started as a part-time role for a nurse interested in research technology became an opportunity to help shape an industry, and I am grateful to have been part of that journey. I am excited to see where the next 10 years take us.
