Patient recruitment is one of the most time-consuming parts of running a clinical trial site. Identifying eligible patients often means working across multiple systems, reviewing records manually, and spending hours confirming eligibility, only to find a disqualifying criterion at the very end.
The CRIO and Inato integration changes that. In this webinar, Nikki Gandhi (CRIO) and Elaine Haddock (Inato) walk through how sites can connect their CRIO data to Inato’s AI-powered prescreening tool, surface potential patient matches in minutes, and push results directly back into CRIO, without disrupting your workflow.
What You’ll Learn
- How the CRIO and Inato integration works end to end
- How Inato’s AI prescreening tool reads both structured and unstructured patient data
- How to surface eligible patients from your CRIO database automatically
- How eligibility assessments are pushed back into CRIO for your team to act on
- What the setup process looks like and how to get started through the CRIO Partner Directory
How It Works
1. Connect CRIO to Inato
Enable Inato in the CRIO Partner Directory with two API permissions. Setup typically takes about 30 minutes. A Business Associate Agreement is put in place to ensure compliant data handling.
2. AI Prescreening Runs Automatically
Inato pulls structured patient data from CRIO, redacts PHI, and applies study inclusion/exclusion criteria to surface eligible patient matches. It works on both structured and unstructured data, including lab results, diagnoses, medications, encounter notes, and uploaded PDFs.
3. Results Flow Back Into CRIO
Eligibility assessments, prescreening summaries, and next steps are sent directly back into your CRIO instance. Your team picks up in CRIO and continues from there without duplicate data entry.
Key Questions Answered in This Webinar
Can Inato prescreen patients during feasibility, before a study is fully built out?
Yes. Inato can screen against studies in feasibility as well as actively recruiting trials.
What if a patient’s medical history isn’t complete in CRIO?
Inato can ingest new information as it becomes available, rerun the assessment, and update the eligibility report automatically.
Can Inato handle documents scanned outside of CRIO?
Yes. PDFs, medical records, and referral documents can be uploaded manually alongside CRIO data.
What does it cost?
The core prescreening functionality shown in this webinar is free. Creating an Inato account takes about five minutes.
Does Inato update enrollment status back from CRIO?
Yes. Once a patient progresses through the enrollment funnel in CRIO, that status syncs back to Inato, so your team knows not to prescreen them for additional studies.
About the Integration
The CRIO and Inato integration is part of the CRIO Partners Program, a curated ecosystem of site enablement vendors whose tools connect directly into CRIO. Sites can enable partner data access through the CRIO Help Center with no disruption to existing workflows.
Inato operates a network of over 6,000 sites across 50 countries and has supported more than 150 studies to date.
