CRIO 2023 Year in Review

2023 Year In Review

2023 was another year of growth and expansion for CRIO!

Celebrating Team CRIO

We continued to invest in growing our team capabilities. We promoted 33 individuals, including Kristen Bosse (VP, Product Development), Jennifer Beattie (VP, People), Tony Sciucco (VP, Customer Experience), and Marc Wartenberger (Senior Director, Corporate QA and Compliance). We also welcomed Jeff Stein to our Board of Directors and Brook White as our new VP of Marketing and Commercial Operations.

Growing with Clients, Both Old and New

At CRIO, our mission is to design and deliver a modern, intuitive and integrated software platform that reimagines clinical trials for quality, speed and patient centricity. That’s why it’s so important for us to help our existing clients grow and bring new clients on board. This year we welcomed 100 new site clients, including 9 of the largest site networks. We have become the leading choice for eSource among the enterprise-grade site networks, with adoption in at least half.

This was a year of expansion for our sponsor and CRO focused business as well. In our first full year with our Reviewer EDC product, we sold almost 20 studies to sponsors and CROs, and developed partnerships with several CROs. Our early client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, as evidenced through a high repeat purchase rate. We’ve proven that our integrated eSource-EDC system can triple monitoring productivity, enable ongoing data locking, and accelerate study timelines.

Improving and Expanding the CRIO Platform

A central focus of the first half of 2023 was improving on our existing product–reducing bugs and enhancing stability. New features are exciting, but we are committed to the continuous improvement cycle required to be best-in-class and deliver the experience our clients deserve. This included a major rewrite of our finance module, a two week long dedicated bug-a-thon undertaken by our engineering team, and enhanced customer experience with 24/7 multilingual LiveChat support.

This spring, we launched our new Medical Records API. Late last fall saw the initial launch of the site facing portion of CRIO Connect. CRIO Connect is a directory that connects CRIO’s tech-enabled sites with sponsors and CROs seeking high performance, top quality data, and diverse patient populations. These new modules are designed to reduce administrative burden on sites and further highlight the advantages of using tech enabled sites.

Growing the CRIO Ecosystem through Partnerships

We know that to achieve our mission of delivering a platform that reimagines clinical trials we need to expand our ecosystem to include partners to share our vision. In 2023, we began building out our partnership program and launched partnerships with several companies, including Pluto Health and several CROs. Be on the lookout for additional partnerships in 2024, including key recruitment partners and eClinical providers.

Looking Ahead to 2024

CRIO is carrying tremendous momentum into 2024 and looking forward to continuing success alongside our employees, clients, and partners. Stay tuned for these exciting developments in the coming year:

  • Re-designed and modernized eSource data capture
  • Finance system rewrite to support GAAP accounting
  • CRIO Connect for sponsors and CROs
  • CRIO Partner Directory
  • Digital lab integration
